The town of Manchester must declare racism a public health crisis.

Systemic racism accounts for stark health disparities between white Americans and Americans of color. Public health studies over the last few decades have proved that Black and Brown Americans are susceptible to higher rates of infant mortality rates, heart disease, and lower rates of life expectancy. We also know that Covid-19 is disproportionately killing people of color at a higher rate. Multiple states and town governments across the nation have already declared racism a public health crisis, and Manchester must do so as well in order to prioritize the health of minority residents.
